Today we are cutting designs into the cornfield MAiZE at Hickory Flat! It’s theme this year is freedom — featuring the bald eagle, American flag and ‘Uncle Sam’.
Tomorrow we begin cutting the 56 acre maizes at RiverBend. Their joint themes will be American history with a focus on the timeline in North Georgia.
Gordon County was home to the Cherokee People before their removal to Indian Territory in 1838, and there are many Cherokee commemorative sites in this area. While the Trail of Tears is a most remembered event, the Cherokee People had lived many happy years in this area with their families.
Chickamauga was the scene of one of the largest battles of the Civil War. It’s battlefields are now beautiful parks and the scene of many reenactments.
RiverBend’s MAiZE will include Cherokee and Civil War themes.
